Megadeth announces first commercial release of unplugged concert performed in 2001

Megadeth - Unplugged In Boston

It was one of the most unique and sought-after concert experiences in Megadeth fandom – an intimate, scaled-down performance featuring Dave Mustaine & Co. on acoustic guitars stripping down their heavy metal anthems to their primal elements. These special engagements became the stuff of legend over the years and recordings of these performances were made available exclusively through the Megadeth fanclub. But now, the band have partnered with Los Angeles-based indie label Cleopatra Records to make this experience open to all with the first-ever commercial release of Unplugged In Boston, a spectacular acoustic concert recorded in 2001.

Coming just on the heels of the band’s stylishly aggressive album The World Needs A Hero, the set list kicks off with one of that album’s best tracks, the turbulent “Dread And The Fugitive Mind” before launching into a string of older favorites including several from the 1997 album Cryptic Writings as well as an excerpt from “Holy Wars…The Punishment Due.” But Mustaine & gang save the best for last, closing the show with a superb one-two punch of “Moto Psycho,” Hero’s highest charting single, and the unforgettable “Symphony Of Destruction,” Megadeth’s mainstream breakthrough that still manages to get the audience’s blood pumping! All in all, it’s an extraordinary concert that Megadeth fans will not want to miss!

Unplugged In Boston will be available on digital as well as digipak CD and vinyl in an array of color options to choose from.

Track List:

1. Dread And The Fugitive Mind
2. Trust
3. Time: The Beginning
4. Use The Man
5. Holy Wars…The Punishment Due
6. Almost Honest
7. Promises
8. She-Wolf
9. Moto Psycho
10. Symphony Of Destruction

Megadeth’s Dave Ellefson teams up with Drew Fortier for new book

Rock Star Hitman

The Sledge Chronicles: Rock Star Hitman is the first chapter in the action-packed saga of Sledge; an up and coming musician who uncovers a startling quid pro quo: in exchange for achieving his dreams of Rock stardom, he must enlist as a ruthless killer for a clandestine agency. Filled with twists, turns, screams, and even laughs, Rock Star Hitman is the cult thriller you’ve been dying for.

Rock Star Hitman has been described by fans as a fun, raunchy, and twisted fictional autobiography which was written by Grammy Award winning Megadeth bassist David Ellefson along with co-writer Drew Fortier; it’s a self aware bloody good time with no filter akin to Evil Dead II meets The Dirt.

Ellefson states, “I’ve always wanted to write fiction and The Sledge Chronicles provided the perfect runway to launch the first of a series of books. I figured I may as well start close to home with a rock n’ roll figure as the lead character and expand the global exploits from there.”

David’s canon of published literary work includes four non-fiction titles with his two memoirs “More Life With Deth” (Jawbone Press 2019) & “My Life With Deth” (Howard/Simon & Schuster 2014), a self-published lyric & poem offering “UNSUNG: Words & Images” (Blurb 2012) and his debut how-to book “Making Music Your Business….A Guide For Young Musicians” (Hal Leonard 1997).

The novel was released through The Ellefson Book Co. imprint and was co-written with musician, filmmaker, actor Drew Fortier; known for his work with such artists as Bang Tango, Chuck Mosley (Faith No More), and Zen From Mars. Fortier also released his autobiography Dark, Depressing, and Hilarious in 2018.

Ellefson and Fortier are no strangers to collaboration; on top of their forthcoming novel they also have an independent found footage horror film due out in 2021 titled Dwellers which was written by, directed by, and starring Fortier with Ellefson producing via his Ellefson Film Co. imprint.

Official documentary revealed of late Megadeth drummer Nick Menza

Nick Menza

West Virginia based, Screaming Butterfly Entertainment has announced Nick MenzaThis Was My Life” – The uncensored documentary film of one of metal’s greatest drummers who died doing what he loved best.

This Was My Life: will be the first ever film to memorialize the late drummers legacy and celebrate his life exactly how it was, a sizzle reel can be seen below.

This Was My Life: The official Nick Menza documentary film is an unflinching exploration into the life of one of the most successful thrash-metal drummers of all time, authorized by the Menza family. From his childhood all the way through to the end of his life including a true blow-by-blow account of the repeated failed attempts of the classic Rust In Peace Lineup.

This Was My Life: Will also feature rare and never before seen photos and video footage from Nick’s personal archived VHS tape collection, personally filmed by Nick Menza himself from 1988 through 1991 – Featuring exclusive content showcasing Nick working at the studio, personal home movies, casual time and party time with his fellow band members, as well as other well-known bands of the era that Nick toured with.

Menza’s longtime personal manger Robert Bolger said: I am very excited to be working with Screaming Butterfly Entertainment on Nick’s official documentary. There’s a lot of published misinformation out there about Nick that isn’t true and I am very happy to bring the truth forth. Nick loved his fans and always said, without the fans none this would be possible. I really think Nick’s fans will enjoy this journey through his life.

Executive producer Holly Mollohan from Screaming Butterfly Entertainment said: As both a filmmaker, and fellow metalhead who deeply values the metal community, I am honored and excited to go on this journey alongside all of you.

Nick Menza: I will always play drums and music, it’s my life, i love it! More details will be revealed soon.

Menza’s official autobiography, “Megalife: The Autobiography Of Nick Menza” by J. Marshall Craig, was released in December 2018 via Post Hill Press.

Late in the evening on May 21, 2016, Nick collapsed after suffering a heart attack during a concert with Chris Poland and Robertino “Pag” Pagliari in their band OHM: at The Baked Potato in Studio City, California and was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital. The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner said Menza died of hypertensive and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease.

Nick rightfully earned his place as heavy metal’s fiercest drummer during MEGADETH’s 10-year peak at the top. The highlight of his career, Nick said, was playing Rock In Rio before more than 100,000 people.

The lowest point was being fired by MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine while he was still in a hospital bed after surgery to remove what doctors feared was a cancerous growth.
