US Rock Cruise ShipRocked 2022 announced featuring Lamb Of God, Steel Panther & more

Shiprocked 2022

A diverse rock lineup has been announced for the next ShipRocked, January 22-27, 2022, onboard Carnival Breeze sailing from Galveston, Texas, with stops in beautiful Costa Maya and Cozumel, Mexico in the Caribbean. ShipRocked 2022 will feature multiple performances from Lamb Of God, I Prevail, Steel Panther, Badflower, Sevendust, Avatar, P.O.D., Ayron Jones and many more, with a special performance from Lamb Of God’s Mark Morton. In addition, The Stowaways return as ShipRocked’s own all-star band, with a revolving cast of special guests to be announced.

A limited number of staterooms are still available for the 2022 sailing at www.ShipRocked.com.

Here’s what some of the 2022 ShipRocked artists had to say about the return of the ultimate rock music cruise vacation:

Mark Morton / Lamb Of God: “We are thrilled to announce that Lamb Of God will be appearing on ShipRocked 2022! Live music is coming back in a big way and what better chance to make up for all the concerts you’ve been missing out on over the last year than to set out to sea for 5 days of non-stop rock?! Bring your sunscreen, Pedialyte and lots of Dramamine…Let’s gooooooo!”

Steel Panther: “Continuing the legacy of legendary seafarers who came before us like Captain Ahab, Captain Nemo and the great Captain Merrill Stubing, Steel Panther is proud to be a part of ShipRocked 2022. It will be the best fishing trip you have ever been on…if you’re fishing for a first mate or just an old-fashioned rockin’ good time.“

Johannes Eckerström / Avatar: “ShipRocked have been very kind to us in the past, and we are happy to return. Who knows? Between the kayak excursions and live band karaokes we might just lose ourselves in the most disgustingly violent sets that ship has ever seen.”

Badflower: “We’re stoked to be a part of the ShipRocked family. Thanks for having us back in 2022!”

The initial music lineup for ShipRocked is as follows (listed alphabetically): 10 Years, ’68, Avatar, Ayron Jones, Badflower, Blacktop Mojo, Bones U.K., Dead Poet Society, Dead Sara, From Ashes To New, He Is Legend, I Prevail, Lamb Of God, Lilith Czar, Motionless In White, Oxymorrons, P.O.D., RavenEye, Sevendust, Steel Panther, VRSTY, Wage War and Zero 9:36, plus special performances by The Stowaways all-star band, Mark Morton and We Are The Fallen. TOUR NEWS: Megadeth & Lamb Of God Reschedule North American Co-Headline Tour

Megadeth

It’s time. MEGADETH and LAMB OF GOD cannot be stopped and today announced the rescheduled run of the Metal Tour of the Year. Joining them, as previously planned, will be special guests TRIVIUM and IN FLAMES, heralding the long-awaited return to the stage for these bands, who are every bit as excited about these historic and not-to-be-missed shows as fans are. Tickets for the rescheduled dates will go back on-sale beginning Friday, May 7th at 10am local at LiveNation.com.

MEGADETH, fueled by Dave Mustaine’s triumphant return to the stage following his diagnosis and recovery of throat cancer, will finally embark on their first North American tour since 2017. Speaking on the long-awaited announcement of the rescheduled run, MEGADETH’s leader and frontman, Dave Mustaine says: “Can you hear that sound of armies on the march – of destruction on the horizon? That’s this tour, coming for you. We cannot wait to return to the stage and I promise you you do NOT want to miss these shows. You’re not going to know what hit you!”

LAMB OF GOD pressed ahead with the release of their crushing self-titled album, Lamb of God, which was one of the best-selling metal albums of 2020. The band now looks to take the show on the road as they return to the stage for the first time since the release of the record. Randy Blythe, inimitable frontman of LAMB OF GOD, adds

“It’s been far too long since we got together to do our thing— by ‘we’ I mean bands, road crew, bus drivers, truck drivers, local venue staff, vendors, audience, parking lot attendants, the freaking janitors- the whole damn enchilada. ALL OF US. TOGETHER. Everyone has been waiting, but the time has come to put the puzzle back together— I honestly don’t think I’ve ever been more ready to hit the road with lamb of god. See y’all in a few months with Megadeth, Trivium, & In Flames. Over a year with no live music? These shows are gonna be INSANE…”

Lamb Of God

TRIVIUM’s Matthew Kiichi Heafy adds: “The Metal Tour of the year couldn’t be stopped by anything. It is still happening, and we can’t wait to bring back shows with this monumental tour. We’re ready. Are you?”

With IN FLAMES singer, Anders Fridén stating: “I can’t really describe how good it feels to be really talking about going on tour, let alone The Metal Tour of the Year. This setup is long overdue and we can’t wait to finally make it happen.”

Produced by Live Nation, the epic, rescheduled tour will now kick off on Friday, August 20th in Austin, TX and hit a further 26 cities before wrapping in Quebec City, QC on Saturday, October 2nd . Full tour itinerary below.

All previously purchased tickets for any of the rescheduled dates listed below will be valid for the new date. For any cancelled dates, refunds will automatically be processed at your point of purchase.

Nuclear Blast News: Sabaton, Lamb Of God, Carnifex

Sabaton

SABATON unveil new single & music video for “The Royal Guard”, LAMB OF GOD Debuts Blistering Bad Brains Live Cover Featuring FEVER 333, CARNIFEX – Release Cover Of KORN’s “Dead Bodies Everywhere”.

After the huge success of SABATON‘s latest single “Livgardet”, the Swedish metal giants return today and add a cherry on the cake on their hommage to the Swedish Royal Guard. Today, the band releases the English version of the song, “The Royal Guard”.

Listen here: https://music.sabaton.net/TheRoyalGuard

“The Royal Guard” comes with an impressive music video setting new standards for all releases to follow. Watch it here.

LAMB OF GOD has premiered a scorching cover of the Bad Brains classic “I Against I” featuring FEVER 333 vocalist Jason Aalon Butler in a new live quarantine video that captures the raw energy and spirit of this cult classic.

LAMB OF GOD featuring FEVER 333 – “I Against I” is available now at https://lamb-of-god.lnk.to/IAgainstIQuarantineVideo.

LAMB OF GOD vocalist Randy Blythe states, “The idea to cover ‘I Against I’ goes back at least 20 years to a camping trip the band was on. Mark & I were sitting in the back of our buddy’s Jeep ripping through the mountains, Bad Brains was cranking on the stereo, & I was singing along to that particular song. Mark looked over at me & said ‘We should cover that tune.’ So we thought about it for a couple of decades and finally got around to doing it for the Burn The Priest Legion: XX record (hey, sometimes we move a little slow…).

As we all know, this pandemic has sucked for live music, but the quarantine jams bands have been doing have been pretty fun, especially when you bring in guests. I saw FEVER 333 for the first time at the Sonic Temple fest— I had never listened to them, but I was blown away by their live show. I remember thinking ‘Man, these dudes are WILD- their energy reminds me of the punk shows I saw in the 80’s’ and I’ve been friends with those dudes from that day. I even texted Darryl from Bad Brains that afternoon to tell him to check them out. It was only natural to ask Jason to join us & bring that energy to this song by the almighty Bad Brains, my favorite band of all time.”

FEVER 333 vocalist Jason Aalon Butler adds: “It is truly an honor to be a part of this one as I have the utmost respect for Randy and the boys since becoming homies after having my mind blown when I looked over at the side of the stage at Sonic Temple Fest and saw him watching us play. It’s been a pleasure getting to know him and an honor to rock L.O.G. celebrating one of the most important punk rock/musical acts of all time Bad Brains. From legends to legends to the student. All love.”

San Diego deathcore pioneers, CARNIFEX, are proud to release their cover of KORN’s “Dead Bodies Everywhere” single off 2009’s Follow The Leader.

CARNIFEX comments, “KORN was one of our original influences and inspired us greatly as young musicians. Each time we do a cover, it’s our way of saying thank you to the musicians that came before us, and just maybe we added our touch of brutality! Enjoy!”

Check out the visualizer for the cover of KORN’s “Dead Bodies Everywhere”.

Lamb Of God releases new live video for ‘Resurrection Man (Live)’

Lamb Of God

LAMB OF GOD has released a new video, “Resurrection Man (Live),” from Lamb Of God – Live In Richmond, VA.

LAMB OF GOD’s Mark Morton states: “‘Resurrection Man’ has been a fun song to watch the fan reaction to and a fun one to play live for the first time.  We wrote the music for that song quickly and spontaneously in pretty much an afternoon in our jam room.  Willie freestyled the opening riff and we built from there. Sometimes it’s cool to just let stuff flow without overthinking things to death.   I feel like ‘Resurrection Man’ is a great example of that.”

Released Friday via Nuclear Blast Records, Lamb Of God – Live In Richmond, VA includes a live version of the selftitled album with two bonus tracks, along with a DVD that features the first of LAMB OF GOD’s two ultra-successful live stream events from September 2020, in which the band performed Lamb Of God in full, plus an encore of four songs including “Ruin,” “Contractor,” “512,” and the debut live performance of “The Death Of Us,” a newer song the band wrote and recorded in quarantine for the Bill & Ted Face The Music movie and soundtrack. The DVD includes a new director’s cut with bonus material. The digital version of the release, Lamb Of God (Deluxe Version) is available at https://lambofgod.lnk.to/deluxe.

A vinyl as well as CD+DVD edition of Lamb Of God – Live In Richmond, VA is also available, here:

Lamb Of God premieres lyric video for ‘Hyperthermic/Accelerate’

Lamb Of God

LAMB OF GOD is celebrating the release of the live edition of last year’s critically acclaimed self-titled album with a new lyric video for the bonus track ‘Hyperthermic/Accelerate.’

Available today via Nuclear Blast Records, “Lamb Of God, Live At Richmond, VA” includes  a live CD and DVD which features the first of LAMB OF GOD’s two ultra-successful live stream events from September 2020, in which the band performed ‘Lamb Of God’ in full, plus an encore of four songs including “Ruin,” “Contractor,” “512,” and the debut live performance of “The Death Of Us,” a newer song the band wrote and recorded in quarantine for the Bill & Ted Face The Music movie and soundtrack. The DVD includes a new director’s cut with bonus material.

The first single from the set, the bonus track “Ghost Shaped People,” has spent five consecutive weeks at #1 on the Metal Contraband metal radio chart.

Originally released June 19 of last year, LAMB OF GOD’s first new album in five years was met with universal acclaim – not only among major rock journalists, but with all strata of metal fans around the world.

But critics, media and the industry aside, perhaps the most telling statistic is the year-end US Metal Radio chart, where the new album dominated at #1 by a massive margin (over 2,000 more spins than the album at #2). Lamb Of God spent nine weeks in the #1 spot and never left the top 10 since debuting on the chart in February. Metal Radio is the lifeblood of the US metal world, largely staffed by college students and regional tastemakers, playing the music that they know their local metal fans want to hear.

LAMB OF GOD eagerly awaits their return to the road to support ‘Lamb of God’. Their headline tour in the UK and co-headline tour with Kreator in Europe will take place in November and December 2021. Tickets for both tours are on-sale at lamb-of-god.com/tour.

VIDEO: Lamb Of God premieres video for “Ghost Shaped People” from upcoming live album

Lamb Of God

LAMB OF GOD has premiered a video for the single ‘Ghost Shaped People‘,  a track from the upcoming “Lamb Of God – Live In Richmond, VA“.

Directed by Truman Kewley and Eddie Perez, ‘Ghost Shaped People’ hauntingly shows a man’s journey into the afterlife juxtaposed with a crushing live performance.

The two-disc deluxe edition will feature a DVD with the live performance of the full critically-acclaimed LAMB OF GOD record plus several fan-favourites, while the CD contains the audio of the show with two bonus tracks, that will be out on March 26th via Nuclear Blast Records.

“This album, and in particular, this deluxe edition is something I’m incredibly proud of,” guitarist Willie Adler previously said. “Throughout the process of writing, recording, and the subsequent filming of the live stream, I knew we were creating much more than a collection of songs. Much more than a simple streamed performance. This was focused energy. Energy that, to me, is very tangible. And now, more than ever, in an era where human interaction is so limited, art…..be it music, visual, or otherwise, is a human connection point. And we need as much of that as possible! I hope everyone enjoys this deluxe edition as much as we enjoyed creating it. Thank you.”

Pre-orders for the set are available now. The live CD and DVD portion of the deluxe version features the first of LAMB OF GOD’s two ultra-successful live stream events from September 2020, in which the band performed their critically acclaimed, self-titled album LAMB OF GOD in full, plus an encore of four songs including ‘Ruin’, ‘Contractor’, ‘512’ and the debut live performance of ‘The Death Of Us’  a new song the band wrote and recorded in quarantine for the Bill & Ted Face The Music movie and soundtrack. The Rockpit’s Best Metal releases of 2020

Best of Metal 2020

2020 has certainly been an interesting year with the pandemic affecting touring worldwide. However one positive consequence of that has been the creativity and focus on new music which is always great to see and this year we were overflowing with new releases from some of our favorite bands. The metal scene in particularly took advantage of the downtime by putting in extra effort to push out some solid stuff so here are our favorite picks from 2020.

Harlott - Detritus of the Final Age

Warbringer - Weapons Of Tomorrow

8. Warbringer – Weapons Of Tomorrow

It’s been 12 years since Warbringer crushed metal fans with their debut album and here in 2020 we are presented with their sixth studio album titled “Weapons Of Tomorrow”. Heathen - Empire Of The Blind

7. Heathen – Empire Of The Blind

It’s been a long time between drinks for new Heathen music, 11 years to be exact but 2020 is the year that the Bay Area thrash legends return. Better late than never as they say and while we live through pandemic lockdowns and such, now is a good time to get some new stuff from Heathen and the wait was well worth it.

Imonolith - State Of Being

6. Imonolith – State Of Being

While the member list sounds like an all-star collection of musicians that has an impressive musical resume which can sometimes end up resulting in a disappointing outcome, here Imonolith do the opposite and focus on what matters the most – the music. “State Of Being” is the debut album and we think a start of something bigger to come.
